Islamabad (Dawn.com): Enraged by the attitude of the Chaudhry’s of Lahore, the members who opposed the working methods of the owners of the Pakistan Muslim League (Q), (a party that was giving birth by the former President Musharraf) finally decided to form a separate party.

No US marine to be stationed in Islamabad - Holbrooke denies news

Islamabad (Dawn.com): Negating the US State Department’s report that said that the US was building a Marine House that could accommodate 1000 marines, the US special envoy to Pakistan and Afghanistan, told the media yesterday that no US marine would be stationed in Islamabad. He denial was followed by the Pakistan foreign minister’s statements endorsing Holbrooke’s statements.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that some media outlets have wrongly reported the news report.

Pakistan army denies human rights abuses allegations

Islamabad (Dawn.com): The DG ISPR, yesterday, while speaking on the issue of discovery of mass graves in the trouble hit northern areas told the TV channel that Pakistan Army has never indulged in any heinous acts on the contrary Pakistan army has been reporting the discovery of mass graves.

The Director General also clarified that the reports about Pakistan army throwing the militants from the helicopters and also dragging their relatives into public were wrong. Pakistan army, he said, is a professional institution. It is a strong chain of command and does not get involved in human right abuse.

Chairman Pakistan Steel Mills sacked on corruption charges

Islamabad (Dawn.com): The Chairman of Pakistan Steel Mills was sacked by the Prime Minister of Pakistan yesterday. Yusuf Raza Gilani announced his decision and said the interior ministry has been directed by him to probe into the matters relating to the Pakistan steel mills.

He told the assembly that, ‘Just right now I have sacked the chairman of the Steel Mills and directed the interior ministry to probe the affairs of the mills and submit a report.’

Renewed buying lift KSE-100 index by 62.55 points

Karachi (Business Recorder): Positivity prevailed at Karachi Stock Exchange yesterday upon the reports that Pakistan credit rating has been revised by Moody’s. Pakistan rating has been reported as ‘stable’ from ‘negative’. The upward revision is rating of 4 Pakistani Banks also improved the market sentiments. Healthy buying was seen in banking and oil sectors which led in the improvement in the KSE-100 index which closed at 7,995.10 points with the increase of 62.55 points.
