Islamabad (Dawn.com): While talking to reporters during his visit to condole the death of Opposition leader, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan’s brother’s death, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Yousuf Raza Gilani told the press that NRO was not a hinderance in Musharraf’s trail under the Article 6 of the constitution. Rehman Malik, Interior Minister, Minister of Water and Power Raja Pervaiz Ashraf and Dr. Babar Awan, Minister of Parliamentary affairs accompanied the Prime Minister during the condolence meeting.
US pledges fund to rebuild Pakistan’s economy, construct schools, bridges and roads in war torn Northern areas of Pakistan
Washington (Dawn.com): Almost $5 billion have been pledged by the US to help rebuild Pakistan’s economy. The allocated funds would be used in reconstruction of schools and build road and bridges in the Swat and other war torn areas of Pakistan. The US is also working on the plan to request the oil rich countries to donate generously to the cause of rebuilding the US key alley in war on terror.
Talks with Pakistan possible only if Pakistan contains terrorists activities
New Delhi (Dawn.com): The Indian Foreign Minister, S.M. Krishna, spoke positively about the need of meaningful dialog with Pakistan but said that the talks would only be possible if Pakistan would contain the terrorists and not allow its land to be used by terrorists to plan attacks on India. He said, “We wish to address our differences with Pakistan through dialogue. On several occasions we have conveyed to the Pakistani leadership our desire to engage in meaningful discussions and to develop our bilateral relations in a positive manner. At the same time, we made it clear that a meaningful dialogue will only be possible following the fulfillment by Pakistan of its commitment not to allow its territory to be used for terrorist activities against India.’
MQM not linked with ‘Jinnahpur Conspiracy’ - Chief Of MQM calls for Truth and Reconciliation commission
Karachi (Dawn.com): In the talk show aired by the local TV channel the former corps commander, the former Director General of Intelligence Bureau shed light on the ‘Jinnahpur conspiracy’. They said that the “Jinnahpur Conspiracy” was falsely linked to MQM. The maps and other documents recovered from the MQM head quarters were fake.
The MQM chief, Altaf Hussain, has requested the Chief Justice Of Pakistan to form a ‘truth and reconciliation commission’ in light of the disclosures. In the remote address from London he said, ‘But on Sunday, Lt-Gen (retd) Naseer Akhtar and Brig (Retd) Imtiaz made it clear that it was a false allegation and an attempt to divide the nation.’

Karachi (Business Recorder): Karachi Stock Exchange index jumped up by 179.06 points backed by healthy buying activities of the local institutions and retail traders. The positivity also prevailed at the Karachi Stock Exchange was to the positive corporate results and improvement in the Pakistan rating by S & P.
