Los Angeles, California (CaymanMama.com) — A Volkswagon SUV driver, a woman who was taking on her cell phone while driving, struck pedestrians killing a 10-year old boy and injuring his mother and two sisters. The Los Angeles Times reports that the SUV drivers did not attempt to slow down or stop before the collision. The SUV struck the family while taking a left turn from San Vincente onto Tweedy.
Negligence while driving took the life of Ricardo Mercado, 10, while his mother and sisters remain in the hospital. Their injuries can be healed but the loss of their family member due to careless driving can not be replaced. Like other accident cases, this accident adds up to the rising number of pedestrian accidents on the streets in the U.S.
Pedestrian accidents accounted for 210 deaths and over 5,000 injuries in 2007 as was reported in the Statewide Integrated Traffic system.
In spite of the fact that rules and safe driving law exists, accidents happen and are the source of injuring and killing people who are a pedestrian, occupant or the driver of the vehicles. The fault usually lies with the driver who might be carelessly driving or is under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Car accidents attorneys say that in such circumstances, the injured must not panic and must not let go of his/her senses. The injured must try and remember the circumstances in which the accident happened, and should make note of any thing that might be helpful in claiming compensation for the injury.
Car accident injury attorneys are people who know the law and take the legal path to ascertain the fault and file for the compensation. They fight for the rights of their clients and use their experience to get the right compensation their clients deserve.
