Austin, Texas (CaymanMama.com) — In response to the impending flu season which is supposed to be more serious than any previous years, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has given approval on the applications of four manufacturers to begin manufacturing the H1N1 flu vaccine.
According to Kathleen Sebelius, the secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services on Tuesday, there will be a limited number of supplies going to market around the first week of October, nearly one week earlier than originally scheduled.
After than, approximately 45 million doses will go out around Oct. 15.
“We will have enough vaccine available for everyone,” Sebelius told the House Energy and Commerce Committee.
According to CNN.com, “The plan is to begin the large-scale vaccination program in mid-October in as many as 90,000 sites, though limited amounts of the vaccine are expected to be available a week to 10 days earlier, she said.”
