New York (Dawn.com): US President Barrak Obama, during the International conference in New York announced that the US senate has approved tripling US non - military aid to Pakistan. Richard Holbrooke, while commenting on the announcement made by the US President said, ‘How nice that the US president could announce it personally.’
President Zardari, reacting to the approval of the US aid package told the reporters that the gesture made by the US president reflects the confidence of the International community in Pakistan. He said, ‘We have come a long way. The democracy has completed a full circle.’ ‘We have a message for the extremists: ‘There’s no place for them in the civilized world.’
$100 million pledged by Saudi Arabia as humanitarian aid to displaced Pakistanis
United Nations (Dawn.com): Saudi Arabia announced its contribution of $100 million as humanitarian aid to help United Nations in its efforts to settle over 2.7 million Pakistanis who have been displaced due to war against militants in Northern Pakistan. Saudi Arabia contribution is the single largest contribution so far.
National Accountability Bureau points fingers at PML-N leader for sugar crises in 2006-7
Lahore (Dawn.com): NAB (National Accountability Bureau) report holds Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif were responsible for the sugar crises in the year 2006-7. During this period the Sharif Brothers were in exile and former President Musharraf was in power. The PML-N leaders have termed the report as a blackmail tactic. ‘How can the Sharifs be held responsible for the sugar crisis in 2006 when they were in exile’, he questioned and added that they were not even allowed to perform funeral rituals of their father by the dictator,’ said Senator Pervaiz Rashid.

Karachi (Dawn.com): A record rise of 277.01 points was recorded at the Karachi Stock Exchange yesterday. The institutional and local investors resorted to heavy buying that resulted in setting up a new record high in the past 2 years. The KSE-100 index rose to 9,713.83 points.
