Jacksonville, Florida (CaymanMama.com) — The U.S. Secret Service was on high alert after finding a poll on the popular social networking site Facebook, asking whether President Barack Obama should be assassinated.

After locating the poll, the Secret Service are now trying to find the people responsible for the offensive poll.

On Monday, Facebook closed down the user-generated poll, called. “Should Obama be killed?” which gave answers to the question such as yes, no, maybe, and “If he cuts my health care.”

“Once we found out about it, we worked with Facebook to have it removed,” Secret Service spokesman Malcolm Wiley told the AFP. “We are certainly investigating; just like we would with any threat case.”

It was reported that over 750 Facebook users cast their votes before the poll was removed. The poll generated fiery online exchanges and caused many to go head to head with their views.

“This is sick and sad,” one Facebook user said. “All of this anti-Obama rage is pure racism.”

“Of course we are offended by the content of the poll but objectionable ideas are in the world and, unfortunately, manifest on Facebook,” Facebook spokesman Barry Schnitt said.

“We felt we dealt with it in a responsible way by removing it as quick as we were notified.”
