Islamabad (Dawn.com): Sources close the Pakistan Muslim League (N) and a Private TV channels reported that upon Saudi Kings request, the Chief of Pakistan Muslim League (N), Mr. Nawaz Sharif might not take part in the by election being conducted to fill vacant NA seat. In fact the sources close to the Sharif brother said, Mian Nawaz Sharif might not contest in election this year.

Pakistan Muslim Leagues spokesman, Siddiqul Farooq told the media, ‘We will abide by the court order, but a final decision about whether or not Mr Nawaz Sharif will contest the polls will be the sole prerogative of Mr Sharif himself.’

Pakistan army surrounds Taliban - Ready to flush hard core Taliban in South Waziristan says US

Washington (Dawn.com): While Pakistan army stay tongue tight, the US defense officials speak about Pakistani Army’s preparation to hit Taliban near the Pakistan - Afghanistan boarder. The US believes that Pakistan Army is properly equipped to carry out the assault to flush out some hard core Taliban militants who have made their safe havens in the mountainous region.

Pakistan army, as reported by a Pakistani news channels stated that Pakistan’s army has 90 days to complete their operation, clean out the militants and capture the mountainous region before the season changes color, when the temperature drops down to -12 degrees C making any such operation impossible.

Foreign Minister of Pakistan believes Quetta Shura does not exist anymore

Islamabad (Dawn.com): Pakistan Foreign Minister, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, told Los Angles Times about the hardships faced by Pakistan in the US led War against Terror. He spoke about the Quetta Shura, where he said he doubts that the Quetta Taliban outfit still exits. He said that many of its militants have been killed and the rest escaped to Afghanistan to fight their war. He said that Pakistan army needs assistance and support in their cause of rooting out terrorism.

Regarding ISI, he said, the US leadership would have to decide whether Pakistan intelligence agency of ISI is their friend or foe.

Pakistan smoked out of ICC - Champions Trophy - New Zealand cruses out finals

Johannesburg (Dawn.com): New Zealand beat Pakistan by 5 wickets in the Semi Final match of ICC Champions trophy on Saturday, thank to some wrong umpiring decisions. Pakistan gave the New Zealanders a target of 234 runs which the New Zealand team achieved with 13 balls to spare.

Australia and England will face each other in the final match of ICC Champions trophy today.

First ever coal run power plant in Pakistan sanctioned by the Punjab government

Lahore (Dawn.com): The Punjab Chief Minister, Shahbaz Sharif, sanctioned first ever, coal run electric power plant that would produce 50 MW of electricity. The power plant will come into operation within a years time. The project will be executed by Punjab Coal Gas Mining Company. Pakistan Nuclear scientist, Samar Mubarak Mand, will be the technical supervisor of the project.

The government of Punjab plans to launch 10 such projects projects in Punjab that could generate 500MW of electricity.
