Lahore, Pakistan: ICC champions trophy matches brought new problems for Pakistani cricket team. The players, united under the captaincy of the skipper Younus Khan and unexpectedly come out to win matches against West Indies and India. The Pakistan team found itself in the semis to face New Zealand.

The sad part of the story is that Pakistan team had to return after loosing the semi final. India and Sri Lanka were already sent home after loosing their league matches. Pakistani teams loss was criticized by the Indians who alleged that Pakistan lost the match as it was fixed and pointed out at Pakistan for fixing the match. An allegation that was immediately negated by the ICC officials.

Back home, things were different. The politician involved themselves and like the Indian who are foes of the Pakistani team and the Pakistan in general, alleged that the captain fixed the match and deliberately lost the match. Is this right or did the politician themselves placed bets on Pakistan winning the semi finals and lost. Now they had to vent it out.

Younus Khan was called to give an explanation. The perturbed skipper after appearing before the panel to explain what had happened in the match, opted to resign after the humiliating affair that took him by surprise.

The chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board, Ijaz Butt has refused to accept the skipper’s resignation and hopes that Younus Khan would change his mind.

The game of cricket in Pakistan has turned political. Games are played where once team looses and the other team wins. With the current attitude of the Pakistan politicians who put the reputation of their country’s team at stake, would any player be willing to play for his country.
