Security guard at Newark Liberty International Airport detained for threatening Obama
2009-10-22 03:05:23 (GMT) (Caymanmama.com - Top Stories News)Denver, Colorado (CaymanMama.com) — A security guard stationed at the Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey is eating his words on Wednesday after being arrested following some threatening remarks aimed at President Barack Obama, according to a spokesman for the U.S. Secret Service, as per CNN.com
Port Authority spokesman John Kelly reported that security guard John Brek, 55, was arrested Tuesday and charged with making terroristic threats.
Upon a thorough search of Brek’s home, authorities found approximately 40 firearms, all of which appear to be obtained legally, Kelly said.
According to CNN.com, “U.S. Secret Service spokesman Ed Donovan said the man worked for a private security firm at the airport, and that he denied making the threats when he was interviewed by Port Authority police.”
Brek’s arrest was most likely good timing as Obama was slated to appear at a New Jersey campaign rally in honor of Gov. Jon Corzine Wednesday night in Hackensack, New Jersey, and Brek may have taken the opportunity to carry out his threats.
