Bethesda, Maryland (CaymanMama.com) — As President Barack Obama moves forward in this forward-minded approach to government business affairs, he indicated signing a $680 billion defense policy into law proves it is possible to change traditional business practices in Washington.
Obama said this move is “an affront to the American people and to our troops.”
On Wednesday in an East Room ceremony conducted at the White House, Obama signed the bill that he says will put an end to wasteful weapons projects that American legislators have worked tirelessly to eradicate.
Those projects include a Cold War-era F-22 fighter that many analysts have said is sub-par for the war in Iraq and Afghanistan.
According to the Associated Press, “But the bill also includes a program Obama had threatened to veto, the development of an alternative engine for the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter. The administration said the spending on plans for the second engine was unnecessary and would disrupt the F-35 program.”
