Orlando, Florida (CaymanMama.com) — Following a brief hospitalization for what appeared to be dehydration, respected actor, director and artist Dennis Hopper has been diagnosed with something much more serious - prostate cancer.
Hopper’s manager said he has canceled all travel engagements and is committed to his treatment plan.
The director and star of Easy Rider is currently enrolled in a special medical program at the University of Southern California aimed at treating and beating the disease.
“We’re hoping for the best,” said Hopper’s rep, Sam Maydew, who would not comment further on the star’s condition.
Hopper recently wrapped up filming the second season of the television series Crash, and his diagnosis forced him to put the brakes on an appearance at an exhibition of his photography and artwork in Australia.
Hopper has been married five times and has four children.
According to Wikipedia, “Despite being famous as an actor and director, Hopper sees himself primarily as an artist, and is an accomplished and much-respected painter, art collector and photographer.”
