Portland, Oregon (CaymanMama.com) — Green Bay Packers football fans, affectionately dubbed “Cheeseheads” will soon get to see the legendary coach of their favorite team on Broadway.
Well, sort of.
“Vince,” a new play scripted about the life of Green Bay Packers coach Vince Lombardi, is planned to hit the Broadway stage in New York next season.
The producers of the play, Tony Ponturo and Fran Krimser, have confirmed that the show will open during the autumn of 2010, while the cast, director and opening date have yet to be announced.
The play by Eric Simonso is based on David Maraniss’ best-seller “When Pride Mattered.”
Vince Lombardi was the head coach of the Green Bay Packers from 1959-67, taking the team to five league championships over the course of nine years.
