Seattle, Washington (CaymanMama.com) — The Canadian province of Ontario has devised a new green plan where by the year 2020, 1 in every 20 vehicles on the road will be electric.
To entice drivers to adopt a greener way of life by using hybrid cars and electric vehicles, Ontario will offer a new license plate for green vehicles–and it will come with perks.
Cars with the new license plates will be eligible for several incentives, including use of recharging stations and special parking spots. One of the other exiting benefits is that the license plate will allow the vehicles to use carpool lanes, even if there’s just one person in the car. The carpool lane perk will be available until 2015.
According to Yahoo! Green, “In the past, when other municipalities and government agencies have allowed benefits like this, the value of the perk has sometimes been as much as several thousand dollars on vehicle resales.”
This green push is just another drop in the barrel for ways to encourage various initiatives in order to reach the goal for 5% hybrid or electric vehicles in just over a decade.
