Nearly 50 Dallas ISD schools voted among worst in Texas

Dallas, Texas (CaymanMama.com) — Everything is bigger in Texas, including the number of North Texas school campuses that are below average.
The Texas Education Agency released a list on Tuesday of the year’s worst public schools in Texas and the Dallas Independent School District had 48 of those names listed — the largest district of them all. The list included 500 campuses statewide.
The TEA list was compiled from schools where student test scores were extremely unsatisfactory or recent school ratings that were deemed “unacceptable”. If their school was on the list, it then gave the students the right to transfer out the next school year under the state’s Public Education Grant program.
Dallas was home to the most subpar school campuses, with Fort Worth and Houston close behind, each with 30 campuses each on the list.
According to the Dallas Morning News, “Only a small number of the estimated 350,000 students eligible to transfer from the 499 schools – about 6.5 percent of the campuses in the state – are expected to do so because the state provides no funding for transportation.”
