Celebrities band together in Haiti relief effort, George Clooney to host telethon on MTV

San Diego, California (CaymanMama.com) — Some of America’s most A-list celebrities are also some of the most generous and that is being shown yet again as they reach out the the victims of the catastrophic earthquake that struck the island nation of Haiti this week.

Hollywood heartthrob, George Clooney announced his plans to host a telethon on MTV next Friday to raise funds towards the relief effort.

Clooney, 48, is no stranger to giving back, and is currently working on drumming up more help on the telethon from his celebrity friends. The telethon will be shown on MTV’s various networks, including VH1.

On Wednesday, power couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie donated $1 million to Doctors Without Borders, an organization who has set up emergency medical operations in Haiti.

Paris Hilton, Ben Stiller, Lindsay Lohan and Adam Lambert have all taken to their Twitter accounts asking the country to give what they can, and Oprah Winfrey asked her viewers to donate at the start of her daytime talk show on Wednesday.

“This is a time where we, as a global nation, should come together and support those who are in need,” she said.
