Emmy winning actor Rip Torn to go to rehab for alcohol addiction

Montreal, Quebec, Canada (CaymanMama.com) — Rip Torn, the charismatic Emmy Award-winning, Oscar-nominated actor of stage, screen and television, is heading to rehab to battle his alcohol addiction.
The latest in a string of booze related incidents and brushes with the law; the 78-year old actor was recently arrested and charged for attempted robbery at a Connecticut bank.
Police reports said that Torn was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crime and was carrying a fully loaded firearm with him when he was arrested.
Sources say that it appeared Torn was attempting to rob the Salisbury bank, but it was later confirmed that he did not have criminal intent.
It was later reported that the actor did not have any such criminal motives. He was utterly intoxicated and was unaware of the seriousness of his actions.
Torn’s bond was set at $100,000 and he was charged with carrying a firearm without a permit, carrying a firearm while intoxicated, first-degree burglary, second-degree criminal trespassing and third-degree criminal mischief.
