I will never forget my first trip to the Caymans thanks to the wonderful staff at Soto’s Cruises. The snorkel trip is well worth the effort if you get a chance to visit. Even before the trip starts, you are greeted by Randy and Kerry Soto and their wonderful staff. The office is located at their house and is centrally located to 7-Mile Beach. I really felt like I was in the Caribbean with the warm hospitality that the Soto’s share. I loved it when I arrived and Kerry greeted me. She is so down to earth and personally takes care of each visitor to make sure they sign in and are fitted with snorkel gear. The crew will take care of the rest. Before the trip started, I was concerned about getting too much sun and becoming very thirsty. Soto’s Cruises took care of both by providing ample shade on the “Sea Hunt” and refreshments to cool you off from all of the swimming. First stop on our trip was the Coral Gardens. The water was so calm and inviting and only 10 feet deep. It seemed like the biggest pool I have ever been in. There was so much aquatic life swimming around us. I saw so many colorful fish and other sea creatures. A humongous lobster that could have snapped my arm off was hiding in a small reef. The plant life was even more colorful from corals to sponges. After a leisure swim in the Coral Gardens, we headed towards our final destination Stingray City. Even before we arrived at the Stingray City Sandbar, I could see the enormous creatures gracefully swimming through the water. This is the closest I have ever been to such a intriguing living thing. Even though they can kill with their barb, the Cayman stingrays are very tame. They say it’s because of all the years that people have been visiting them and feeding them that they do not act aggressive in any way.
