It was reported that 27 year old Camilio Mejias broke into the house of his ex-girlfriend situated at Creston Avenue in Mount Hope and abducted his as well as his girlfriend’s son on Friday morning. This hostage situation, in which two children and one man were involved, was come to an end by Friday night when police surrendered the man. The two children found uninjured.

According to police and the lady’s brother, Mejias, a resident of 1409 51st St., North Bergen, N.J., was drunk when he asked to meet their two children. He also said that if his demand were intervened by someone including police, he could make harm to both innocents.

When Mejias surrendered himself at 5 p.m. on the same day, after eight hours of the drama started, head of the NYPD’s Hostage Negotiation Unit, Sgt. Jack Cambria said that Mejias appeared as a father who caught into trouble, but not a dangerous person. He has proved himself a loving and caring father who in fact fed the two children and also changed the diapers of one among them. For not a single moment, the two little children were felt a sign of danger by him.

On Friday, Mejias was charged with robbery, causing danger to the welfare of a child, custodial interference and criminal contempt.

Mejias came into suspicion when around 7 a.m. in the apartment of his girlfriend, 32 year old Rosemary Espina lived with their baby son and her older son from her ex-relationship, according to her 36 year old brother and police.

After all the Drama, Mejias released the older boy at 1 p.m. and younger boy unharmed at 5 p.m. before he surrendered himself. - Press Release Distribution Service
