Washington: Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff and some top commanders met the US Joint Chief Of Staff Admiral Mullen abroad US aircraft carrier Abraham Lincoln in the Indian Ocean yesterday. After the day long meeting held between the army generals of both the countries, Admiral Mullen went back satisfied he said “I came away from the meeting very encouraged that the focus is where it needs to be and that the military-to-military relationship we’re building with Pakistan is getting stronger every day.”

Election commission clears nomination papers of top 3 Presidential candidates

Islamabad: The nomination papers of Asif Ali Zardari (PPP), Mushahid Hussain (PML-Q) and Saeeduzzaman Siddiqui (PML-N) have been scrutinized and accepted by the election commission of Pakistan.

The election commission also disclosed that out of 68 nomination papers that were filed by 33 candidates only 5 candidates nominations were found valid, others were rejected as their nomination papers did not meet the requirements set by the Election commission.

PML-N refuses to withdraw its Presidential candidate

Islamabad: The relationship of PPP and PML-N grew from bad to worse after the telephonic discussion between the chiefs of both the parties. While Mr. Sharif thanked Asif Ali Zardari for immediately apologizing publicly through the electronic media but he refuse Mr. Zardari’s offer to rejoin the coalition. The PML-N also rejected an indirect request made by PPP for withdrawing its Presidential candidate.

Swiss government releases Zardari’s assets worth $ 60 million

New York: Upon Pakistan Governments notification to the Swiss government that Pakistan is not investigating Mr. Zardari, the Swiss government released US$60 million frozen on request of the Nawaz Sharif government back in 1997.

The Goal is yet to achieved - Says Aitzaz, President Supreme Court Bar Association

Lahore: The lawyers continue to pressurize the government to restore the deposed judges. While starting movement favoring restoration the President Supreme Court Bar Association demanded that the government to restore the judiciary onto the Nov-3, position or else face heightened protests. Mr. Aitzaz said “In long-drawn movements, some people give in and some simply get tired, but that does not mean that the core objective is ignored. The final goal is yet to be achieved”.
