Middle East Celebrates Eid today

Riyadh (AFP): The holy month of Ramzan ended yesterday in the Middle East as the new moon marking the beginning of new Islamic month of Shawal was sighted after the prayers soon after the sunset. Middle Easters countries on Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, UAE, Kuwait, Qatar and Afghanistan are celebrating Eid, the holy festival of celebrations today.

US President’s attempt to bail out troubled financial sector fails

Washington: The troubled financial sector bailout package that was pursued by Bush Administration received a blow when the US house of representative voted against the plan. 228 votes were received against and 205 in favor of the $700 billion bailout plan.

India to get two new nuclear reactors from France

Marseille (AFP): With the eyes of the world all set on US - India nuclear deal, France did not want to be left along. Prime Minister Manmoham Singh’s meet the French President during the annual summit on EU-India ties. The French rose too the occasion to confirm their co-operation with India and hoped that their country would benefit from the civilian nuclear energy deal. A French energy firm hoped that it could make profit by selling India two reactors of latest design.

Israel should pull back from land occupied in 1967 ME war

Jerusalem (Reuters) The caretaker Prime Minister of Israel, Ehud Olmert, yesterday said that in order to get a peaceful settlement Israel will have to leave all the land taken by force from Palestinians. He said “(I am saying) what no previous Israeli leader has ever said: we should withdraw from almost all of the territories, including in East Jerusalem and in the Golan Heights,”

Facebook - community site used for head hunting by M16

London (Dawn/Guardian News Service): Facebook has become the new platform for M16 to hire new spies. The foreign office spokesman said “A number of public channels are used to promote job opportunities in the organization and Facebook is a recent example of this.” The M16, it is learnt, to have received a good response from the adverts that run on the community website.
