Print & Social Options gets a new look to give it an edge on the competition

Minneapolis, Minnesota ( — America Online’s web portal, just got a new skin. The site’s redesigned homepage was unveiled on Thursday in the hopes that it will evolve into a central hub for Internet users to social network, use email and more without going to another site.

According to the AFP, is the umber four gateway to the web trailing Google, MSN and Yahoo, and revamped its homepage in order to provide more access to users to view outside emails without leaving their hub.

With’s “My Networks” feature, users can log onto their social networking accounts on Facebook, MySpace, Bebo, AIM or Twitter directly from the homepage and conduct status updates to all of them at one time saving time and finger-work.

The “Themes” function will let users personalize the homepage by choosing a background color or upload their own design.

AOL, a subsidiary of media giant Time Warner Inc., used to be a heavy-hitter in the early days of the Internet but has since slipped away from its position of most-used portal.
