Rawalpindi police arrest 9 member of Al-Qaeda and Taliban

Islamabad: Yesterday, in a raid conducted on a tip off, police arrested 9 member of terrorists outfits of Taliban and the Al-Qaeda in Rawalpindi. Those who were arrested are suspected to have connection with the high profile attacks carried out in Islamabad at the Danish Embassy, Italian restaurant, on the army medical corps bus and the killing of Chief Medical officer in Rawalpindi.

The arrested people are suspected to have provided logistic support to the terrorists. They also provided them with arms and ammunition along with the details of the target. The gang leader was identified as Qari Jamil. He is a former prisoner at the US run Guantanamo Bay. The arrested people are known to have links with Osama al-Kini top Al-Qaeda leader in Pakistan who died in US drone attack in early January.

IMF reviews Pakistan data - states Initial targets met

Washington: Under its 23 months IMF funding program, the IMF reviewed the data provided by the State Bank of Pakistan. The response received from the IMF was favorable. The IMF spokesman David Hawley spoke to the press and said, ‘Initial developments under the program have been positive. The foreign exchange rate has appreciated somewhat and preliminary information suggests that end-December targets for net international reserves and net domestic assets at the State Bank of Pakistan were met.’

“Friends of Pakistan’ - UN actively backs the initiative

Islamabad: The United Nations, as the foreign minister of Pakistan states, will be actively supporting the Friends of Democratic Pakistan initiative. Instead of playing an observers role, the UN will now actively take part in the discussion and has pledged support in implementing the agenda.

Pakistanis connected with RAW arrested in Lahore

Lahore (APP): The Lahore police chief, yesterday, confirmed that they have arrested 3 Pakistanis who have been working on the instructions of the Indian intelligence agencies in Pakistan. Those who were arrested were told by the RAW to attack mosques and the Lashkar-i-Taiba, the religious organization whom the Indians blame for the Mumbai attacks. The people arrested are suspected to be responsible for several activities including spying for the Indian intelligence agencies.

Net gain of 43.29 points posted at KSE at end of days trading

Karachi: With the KSE-100 index moving on both sides during the volatile session at the Karachi Stock Exchange, mixed trends in the share trading was witnessed. However, towards the end of the days trading session the buying brought the KSE-100 index into a positive zone to close at 5,232.50 points.
