Taliban threaten government, tells not to carry development work

Miramshah (AFP) Yesterday, Taliban distributed flyers warning the Pakistan Army against setting up medical camps and carrying out development work. The leaflets read as, “‘People in North Waziristan are informed that the army is not allowed to set up medical camps or carry out development work, including opening schools or hospitals in villages. We warn the army and NGOs (non-governmental organizations) to refrain from mischief and carrying out such work otherwise they will be responsible for any losses.’

The local witnesses said that Taliban threw the bundle of leaflets from their cars while driving and the later these leaflets were pasted on the walls.

Government resorts to character assassination of PML-Q leaders

Islamabad: The Pakistan Muslim League (N) and the Pakistan Peoples Party confront each other in the war of words. The PML-N leaders have accused the Pakistan Peoples Party leaders of using print and electronic media and has begun a campaign of “character assassination’ of the Main Nawaz Sharif.

Pakistan in close contact with Obama administration over deployment of additional troops

Washington: The Pentagon Press secretary, Geoff Morrell informed the press that US has decided to sent additional troops to Afghanistan but this additional deployment is not a threat to Pakistan. He confirmed that the authorities in Pakistan are well informed about the development. He stated, ‘Absolutely, we are in close communication with our partners in Pakistan,’ he added that the US is in ‘regular communication’ with the military leadership in Pakistan.”

Mumbai attacks not planned in Pakistan

New Delhi: The Pakistani investigation agencies have said that they have completed the preliminary investigation based on the information sent by India. The authorities announced that the report would be sent to India soon. The report outlines that the Mumbai attacks were not planned in Pakistan. Wajid Shamsul Hassan, Pakistan’s High commissioner in Britain told NDTV yesterday, ‘Pakistani territory was not used so far as the investigators have made their conclusions.’

Bull rule Karachi Stock Exchange

Karachi (Business Recorder): All sectors at the stock market in Karachi showed an upward movement though the market opened with a negative note on Friday. The KSE-100 rose by 194.20 and closed at 5,377.42
