Militants bomb Peshawar - Over 10 killed and more than 80 injured

Peshawar (Dawn.com): After Lahore, the militants target the city of Peshawar to carry out their murderous activities. This time, once again targeting the busy market area of Qissa Khwani Bazzar. The other bomb blast took place at a police check post. The eye witnesses report that the suicide bomber who attacked the police check post was on foot.

General Petraeus visits Islamabad

Islamabad (Dawn.com): The CENTCOM chief paid an unscheduled and secret visit to Islamabad. His visit to Pakistan was to assure the Pakistani officials that US will exercise every option to minimize the effects of US Afghanistan strategy on Pakistan. The Pakistan official sources said, ‘Gen Petraeus told his interlocutors that the US had very few options other than to increase the number of troops in Afghanistan and that all possible efforts would be made to minimize its fallout on Pakistan.’

Militants attempt to loot relief goods convey - attempt foiled by security forces

Islamabad (Dawn.com): The Pakistan security forces, yesterday, foiled the attempt of the militants to ambush the convoy of 8 trucks carrying relief goods for the internally displaced people. The good, however, reached safely and were distributed among the effected people.

Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan claims carrying out Lahore bombs attacks

Peshawar (Dawn.com): Shameless militants and the so called Muslims group, Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) claimed responsibility for carrying out Lahore bomb attack 2 days ago in which 26 people died. The heartless creature who call themselves Muslims released the statement saying, ‘We have achieved our target. We were looking for this target for a long time. It was a reaction to the Swat operation.’

BBC reported the TTP commander Hakimullah Mehsud threatening the people of Punjab by saying, ‘Residents should leave the cities of Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore and Multan.’

Karachi Stock Exchange adds 99.29 points to its index yesterday

Karachi (Business Recorder): The trading session started at the Karachi Stock exchange with a positive note. Mainly fresh buying was witnessed in the fertilizer, cement and banking sectors. The intra day high levels peaked at 7,302.93 but towards the end of the day settled at 7,288.13 marking a rise of 99.29 points.
