Pakistan security forces capture 11 militants who tried to attack container terminal

Landi Kotal (Dawn.com): Pakistan security agency captured eleven militants who attempted attack on the container terminal. The Pakistan army spokesman said that these men were previously too involved in such attacks. Out of the 11 men, 4 are afghan nationals, 2 local tribesmen.

Baitullah Mehsuds training camps bombarded

Tank (Dawn.com): Pakistan security forces yesterday bombarded several hideouts and training camps in different areas of Waziristan. According to eye witnesses air force plane bombarded several areas considered to be the stronghold of Baitullah Mehsud. 8 militants were killed in the attack on training centers.

Interior minister says Al-Qaeda leader in Afghanistan

Islamabad (Dawn.com): During an interview with the British Daily, Sunday Time, Rehman Malik, Interior Minister of Pakistan said that the top Al-Qaeda leadership is residing in Afghanistan. About US drone attacks he said, ‘They’re getting mid-level people, not big fish,’ he said. ‘And they are counter-productive because they are killing civilians and turning locals against our government. We try to win people’s hearts, and then one drone attack drives them away. One attack alone last week killed 50 people.’

He added, ‘‘According to our information, Osama is in Afghanistan, probably Kunar, as most of the activities against Pakistan are being directed from Kunar.’

Internally displaced people to return to their homes

Peshawar (Dawn.com): The NWFP government is preparing to welcome the people who have displaced due to the war like situation in Swat. Their return starts from today with the local government permitting the IDP to return to some sectors in Swat where the situation has now turned to normal. Approximately 3,200 families are expected to return to the homes.

Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani acknowledges mixed - rater confused system of governance

Islamabad (Dawn.com): The Pakistani Prime Minister, Yusuf Raza Gilani during the convocation at the International Islamic University acknowledged the mix up - rather confused system of governance in Pakistan he said, ‘At present our governance is hotchpotch: divided between the presidential form of government and the parliamentary system and we are determined to end this confusion and bring back the true parliamentary form of government which is a befitting reply to challenges that our nation is facing today.’
