Search operation leads to capture of 11 suicide bombers

Mingora (Dawn.com): As the provincial government sets up its plan to open offices in the Northern parts of Pakistan, the Pakistan security forces, yesterday, captures 11 boys, trained by the militants to carry out suicide bomb attacks. The boys, as revealed by the sources have been completely brain washed and are ready to kill their parents thinking that they are the sinners. These boys have been sent for psychiatric treatment. The age of these ranges between 9 to 18 years.

6% export growth projected in the Trade Policy, No projection on import target unvealed

Islamabad (Dawn.com): The Commerce Minister, Amin Fahim, yesterday, announced the trade policy of Pakistan. Strategic Trade Policy framework that target medium term (2009-12) projects 6% $ 18.84 billion growth in the exports of Pakistan for the years 2009-10. For 2010-11 and 13 the trade policy envisaged a target growth of 10%.

However, the policy did not project any target for imports.

Pakistan to maintain the strategic balance of power in the region

Islamabad (Dawn.com): The foreign office of Pakistan, in reaction to the launch of Indian Nuclear Sub, told the media that, ‘Without entering into an arms race with India, Pakistan will take all appropriate steps to safeguard its security and maintain strategic balance in South Asia.’

He said that the launch of the nuclear sub by India is a destabilizing factor for the regional strategic balance and is seen as a threat to the peace, stability and security of the region.

Security forces pound hide of banned Lashkar-i-Islam - 20 militants killed

Landi Kotal (Dawn.com): 20 militants and 3 civilians were killed when the security forces shelled the hideout of the banned Islamist outfit Lashkar-i-Islam in Khyber Agency. The military spokesman told the media that, ‘Military helicopters shelled militant hideouts in the afternoon, killing 20 rebels and destroying four of their hideouts.’

Beginning of the new trading weeks sees KSE-100 index fall by 72.34 points

Karachi (Business Recorder): Bearish trend prevailed in the Stock Market yesterday. The fall in index by 72.34 points was mainly owned to the confusion that prevailed over the monetary policy delay. The trading day ended with 7,711.06 points on board.
