Asbestos presence in New York State school

New York, NY: Schroon Lake Central School faced forced closure after detection of asbestos behind bathroom walls. The schools that was built in 1936, is one of the oldest building and is located in the Schroon Lake County. The classes in the school were suspended immediately upon detection of asbestos when renovation work was being done.

The school administration, for the safety of the students and the faculty suspended the academic activities and entrusted the job of asbestos removal according to the guidelines issued by the Environmental protection agency and hopes to start classes soon with the completion of removal of asbestos.

Dangers of asbestos is known to all. The EPA since 1989 has limited the use of asbestos and have enforced guidelines for asbestos abatement ensuing public health and safety.

Asbestos has been responsible for injuring health of people who used to work in the asbestos industry. The asbestos dust and asbestos fiber once airborne are capable of entering the human body if the people inhale in the asbestos contaminated environment. The effects of asbestos surface not earlier that 30 to 40 years in the form of asbestosis or mesothelioma cancer, at such time when the mesothelioma cancer takes full control, cutting short the life span of the mesothelioma victim.
