Pakistan PM meets Chinese President - issues of security, defense, economy and country terrorism discussed

Beijing (Dawn.com): Prime Minister, Yusuf Raza Gilani, met the Chinese President in the Great Hall of Peoples, where both the leaders discussed the issues of relating to the security of Pakistan, economy of the country, counter terrorism and defense issues. The Pakistani PM informed the media that China will be providing equipment and assistance that will help Pakistan in boosting up security and also will help in fighting terrorism.

US senator Kerry assures that US has no desire to manage the Pakistan’s affairs

Washington (Dawn.com): The rush visit of the Pakistan foreign minister to the US to address controversial clauses of Kerry - Lugar bill, Shah Mahmood Qureshi is like to address a joint press conference along with Senator Kerry to elaborate on the issues under discussion in Pakistan. Meanwhile, Senator Kerry has assured Pakistan that the US has no intention of managing Pakistan’s affairs.

Operation in South Waziristan is about to be launched, final go ahead will be given by the Chief of Army Staff

Islamabad (Dawn.com): The chief of Army staff will ascertain the timing of South Waziristan operation, said the Interior Minister of Pakistan, Rehman Malik, He said, ‘These militants are the enemies of Islam and Pakistan. They are hired assassins and their only aim is to destabilize and defame Pakistan.’ While talking to media, Mr. Reham Malik said that the operation can start anytime, its just that the army chief has to decide upon the timing.

Karachi Stock exchange get positive 43 points on board

Karachi (Dawn.com): Modest recovery was witnessed at the Karachi stock exchange where the traders resorted to short covering. The KSE-100 index showed 9,686.40 points on board with 43.84 points added to the index at the end of the days trading session.
