Pakistan situation under close watch by Pentagon

Washington (Dawn.com): The series of terrorists attacks inside Pakistani cities of Lahore and Peshawar that have left dozens of innocent people dead and scores injured are under close watch by the Pentagon. The Pentagon spokesman, Bryan Whitman, during a media briefing told the reports that Pentagon is closly monitoring the situation in Pakistan which at the present point in time is very grim.

Lahore (Dawn.com): National Reconciliation Ordinance, that ordinance which came in to birth due to the efforts of the former President Pervaiz Musharraf giving breathing space to the corrupt politicians of Pakistan and paving way for them to come back. The fruits of which are being presently enjoyed by President Aisf Ali Zardari and his band of ministers including the opposition leader and the chief PML-N who came back to Pakistan after exile.

The National Reconciliation Ordinance is being brought up in the Parliament. The NRO is to be discussed and, if endorsed would become a part of law, proving that Pakistan is the country that provides amnesty to the thugs. The PML-N chief told the newsmen that, ‘If approved, the ordinance will tarnish the country’s image.’

Karachi (Dawn.com): Kerry - Lugar bill is against Pakistan’s National interest, said the PML-N leader to the press. He said that certain conditions laid down in the bill question the sovereignty of the country. He said that Pakistan Muslim League (N) rejects the bill despite of the fact that it has been signed by the US president.

Italy accepts Pakistan request of setting up $10 billion credit line for Italian investors interested to invest in Pakistan

Karachi: Saleem H. Mandviwalla, The chairman board of investment Pakistan revealed to the press that the Italian Government, has recently approved $10 billion credit line for the Italian investors who would invest in Pakistan. He said that the request of such facility was made by the Pakistani President during his recent visit to Italy where the Italian Premier favorably responded to the request and he said, the hoped that the facility would be available within the next 6 months.

Bangladesh opposes EU request to buy Pakistani fabrics

Islamabad (Dawn.com): The EU has asked the developing countries like Bangladesh to buy fabric from Pakistan for transformation into garments to avail GSP facility. The Bangladesh Textile Mills association has opposed the criteria on the pretext Bangladesh investors have made substantial investment in spinning and weaving industry to the get GSP benefits. The investment made so far by the Bangladesh Textile is approximately $4 billion.
