As part of the constant care granted by HM King Mohammed VI, Amir Al Mouminine, to places of worship, the Sovereign gave instructions to ministers of the Interior, of Economy and Finance and of Habous and Islamic Affairs to set up a standing committee to examine the situation of closed mosques.

The setting up of this committee aims at taking necessary measures to schedule the reconstruction, restoration or rehabilitation of closed mosques and their reopening according to priorities and within reasonable time limits as well as the raising of the needed funds for this operation and its local planning.

The Committee is also expected to take necessary steps to implement the provisions of the Royal Dahir on the monitoring of the situation of mosques in order to ensure the safety of the faithful and foil any attempt to exploit the issue of closed mosques by any side for political, propaganda or any other purposes.

HM the King also ordered that the committee submits to His Majesty a progress status report on all operations every six months.
