J.D. Power: Volkswagen Drivers Are Most Satisfied with Their Financing

Owning or leasing a vehicle can entail several hours of maintenance and repairs at the dealership each year, leaving drivers with little patience for any difficulties when it comes to the financing process. That doesn’t appear to be an issue for drivers seeking Volkswagen financing, however, as the auto brand’s captive-finance division topped its mass-market competitors in the recently released J.D. Power 2014 U.S. Consumer Financing Satisfaction Study.

Surveying 20,670 purchasers or lessees of new and used vehicles from the 2010 to 2014 model years, J.D. Power examined four factors of financing or leasing through an auto-finance provider, including the on-boarding interaction, billing and payment process, phone contact and website experience. That feedback was then quantified for each auto brand’s captive-finance arm based on a 1,000-point scale, with Volkswagen Credit leading all mass-market brands with 836 points.

In addition to that streamlined financing process at Volkswagen dealerships, executives at Volkswagen Credit recently told Automotive News that in the past two years the company has revamped its customer invoices and refocused its main website around the features that desktop users seek the most. The quality of interaction has also improved with the creation of separate customer-service teams for the Volkswagen and Audi brands, as well as an extended range of on- and off-line contact channels.
