Nonprofit Hosting Several Initiatives in April to Foster Sustainable Communities

Transformance, Inc., the Dallas, Texas-based financial literacy nonprofit, is in the midst of celebrating April’s Financial Literacy Month. For 30 days, the focus centers on a simple 5-step plan to put consumers on a path to financial wellness: commitment, assessment, organization, prioritization and living on a budget.

The need for a dedicated month committing to financial wellness is sorely needed in the U.S. according to national statistics compiled in a recent personal finance study, 77 percent of us live paycheck to paycheck. Americans are carrying over two trillion in consumer debt. For Texans, the statistics are even worse, with almost half of residents living in liquid asset poverty: 63 percent have sub-prime credit scores and almost 40 percent are underbanked.

To combat these sobering statistics, Transformance is in the midst of several initiatives in April, all designed to heighten awareness of financial literacy while empowering positive change at the community level. These include:

33 Webinars! – Transformance is conducting 33 webinars in support of Financial Literacy Month in April. Numerous topics to choose from include: Little Kids and Money, How to Spend Your Tax Refund, Interest Rates and Why You Should Care, Money Smarts, Seniors and Money, Money and Scams, and much more. All are viewable from the convenience of your desktop.

Ardmore, Oklahoma Office – In support of their regional quest to promote financial literacy and consumer credit counseling, Transformance is opening a branch office in Ardmore, Oklahoma, which will provide services to all southern Oklahoma residents.

Pocket Change USA Mobile App Launch Party – In a celebration of Transformance’s first app designed to teach financial literacy, budgeting, saving and tracking expenditures, the organization is hosting a Pocket Change USA launch party at Jones Day Dallas, located at 2727 N. Harwood, Dallas, TX 75201 on Friday, April 29. All media are welcome to attend.

Hands on Banking Event – Designed specifically for military veterans and their families, the Hands on Banking Event is a chance for free banking education and financial literacy appointments at several DFW bank locations on Saturday, April 30.

“The number one goal of Transformance is to promote transformational learning systems that create financially accountable and sustainable communities,” said Ken Goodgames, president and CEO. “That makes April’s Financial Literacy Month a really big deal for us, as we can capitalize on promoting our resources to those who need it the most.”
